Health Evaluation of Sisters by the Method of Todai Health Index (TAI)



Abstract
This study firstly was made to fiiid-out the Psychosomatic Health Status among the Nun. Group and the Married Group.
Secondly, this study was made to know the characteristic tendency of complaint response of each group by using the Todai Health Index (THI) method.
The data has been collected from March 1, 1980 to the end of August, 1980 from two groups; Sister Group numbering 428 and Control Group (non-Sister) numbering 291 by random sampling in Seoul, Korea.
The results were as follows
1. The order according to rank scores of the responses, revealed that the Psychosomatic complaints in the Nun Group were Nervousness, Lie Scale, Multiple Subjective Symptoms, and Aggressiveness.
2. While the responses in the Married Group were Nervousness, Lie Scale and Impulsiveness.
3. In general, the response of Psychosomatic complaints of the Sister Group was lowerthan in the Married Group.
4. In the item analysis based on age, mean scores of the Psychosomatic complaints were noted to be highest in the thirty age group for the Sisters while the Married Group showed practically similar scores in all age groups.
5. Comparisons based on age groups, revealed that the tendency of complaints response in the Sister Group was generally lower than in the Married Group.
